Steer chosen to deliver 'building blocks' for Transport for the South East strategic investment plan

Following the recent publication of its thirty-year transport strategy, sub-national transport body Transport for the South East has started work on a series of area and thematic studies to inform its strategic investment plan.

The five area studies will look in detail at the transport interventions which can best support and enable sustainable economic growth, improve quality of life and cut carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050 at the latest.

We are delighted to be working in a joint team with WSP and Atkins to deliver the area studies programme.

Steven Bishop, Steer, said: "This next wave of work brings the transport strategy to local areas through five area studies. Over the next two years, supported by WSP and Atkins, we look forward to identifying the key priority interventions to help achieve Transport for the South East’s vision and wider environmental, social and economic goals. We are delighted to continue in our role supporting TfSE and its partners delivering real change to transport in the South East.”

In 2018, Steer was appointed to help design Transport for the South East's thirty-year transport strategy. Our team designed and tested a set of long-term scenarios to forecast how travel behaviour and demand might change between now and 2050, including the potential impact of Brexit on future transport patterns in South East England, resulting in a Transport Strategy and Technical Reports that set out the vision, strategic goals and priorities for the region.
