Steer|WSP named STARThree Prime supplier by DfT

Prime supplier status on STARThree will allow the Steer|WSP Alliance to deepen and extend its support to the DfT in delivering its objectives and commitments.

The Steer|WSP Alliance has been awarded a place on the Department for Transport’s (DfT) STARThree* framework starting in July 2023 and extending for up to four years through to mid-2027.

Led by Steer the Steer|WSP Alliance will be eligible to tender for work across all categories on the framework including transport strategy, planning, operations and commercial advice. The Steer|WSP Alliance has been an established partner to the DfT over the last seven years on the previous STAR and STARTwo Frameworks with a track record of delivery of over 50 projects. This partnership will enable the Alliance to continue and extend its support across rail and other transport modes.

“We are excited to have secured our position on STARThree as a prime supplier. We look forward to working in collaboration with the DfT, providing them with the strategic and technical advice they require to meet post-pandemic challenges around critical areas of transport usage, revenues, performance, reliability and cost (value for money),” says Andrew Davies, Steer’s Framework Director.

Keith Foley, WSP’s Framework Director, said: “Collaboration between the public and private sectors is the key to finding solutions that increase the sustainability of our transport network. Enabling transport connectivity to spread economic prosperity equally around the UK is paramount and we look forward to supporting DfT’s efforts to unlock rail’s potential to do this, in parallel with reducing the environmental impacts of travel and driving social value.”

This framework is likely to include more commissions that support the government's efforts to decarbonise the transport network and deliver net zero by 2050.  There is also a focus in STARThree to create a more diverse supply chain and provide quality advice by increasing participation of SMEs.

As the Steer|WSP Alliance we are well placed to play a substantial role in helping DfT meet its transport and broader objectives and ambitions as well as supporting greater participation of SMEs in delivering work through our own supply chain and working with other STARThree SMEs,adds Andrew.
